Czech Republic striker catches Birmingham's eye

Birmingham are interested in signing Jan Koller, according to the striker's agent. Koller currently plays for German club Nurnberg, but Birmingham boss Alex McLeish is said to be targeting the lofty Czech Republic forward. McLeish is eager to secure the firepower to help Birmingham bounce straight back to the Premier League after suffering relegation last season. And Koller's representative Pavel Paska claims the Blues and Russian side Krylia Sovetov Samara are chasing the 35-year-old, who was a member of Czech Republic's Euro 2008 squad. "Two clubs have shown interest - Krylia Sovetov Samara and Birmingham City," Paska told TV Nova.

Cut-price deal

Koller could be available on a cut-price deal following Nurnberg's Bundesliga relegation, but the former Borussia Dortmund and Monaco star insists he has yet to decide upon his future. "I have not thought of it yet," added Koller when asked about the possibility of leaving Nurnberg. However, Birmingham could be forced to fight for Koller after Paska previously stated that the player is set to travel to Russia for discussions with Samara. Paska added in Sport Express: "We are flying to Samara to undergo talks about a contract. "The Russians have offered him (Koller) a lucrative one-and-a-half-year contract."
