No third-party issue with Jo

Kia Joorabchian insists there are no third-party ownership issues affecting Jo's move to Man City.

City continue talks to sign striker from CSKA Moscow

Kia Joorabchian insists there are no third-party ownership issues affecting Jo's proposed move to Manchester City. Brazilian striker Jo is looking to clinch a move to City after the Premier League club opened talks with CSKA Moscow. But concerns have been raised about the deal after the Premier League confirmed third-party ownership is no longer allowed. The transfer of Carlos Tevez to West Ham United two years ago, when his contract was owned by a third party, has prompted the League's stance on the matter. Joorabchian was involved in the Tevez deal and is also acting as an advisor to Jo as talks continue regarding a reported £18million move. But a spokesman for Joorabchian says there is nothing complicated in the proposed transfer and there is no issue of third-party ownership.

Confusion

"There has been a lot of confusion and incorrect information about the ownership of Jo," said the spokesman. "Kia, who is acting as Jo's advisor, wishes to stress that categorically no third-party ownership issues are involved with the transfer of the player to Manchester City or any other club. "CSKA Moscow have an agreement in place with his previous club Corinthians, who would collect a certain percentage of the sell-on fee. "This is not, however, a third-party ownership. It is an arrangement between two clubs and is no different from any other deals which contain such clauses. "The agreement was put in place when CSKA signed him from the Brazilian club which is contrary to some reports which have appeared elsewhere. "Kia fully understands the rules regarding third-party ownership and the issue is not holding up any possible trasfer."
