Newly-promoted Malaga have confirmed that Antonio Tapia will take over as manager of the club.

Former coach replaces Muniz

Newly-promoted Malaga have confirmed that Antonio Tapia will take over as manager of the club for what will be his second spell in charge. Juan Ramon Lopez Muniz, the man who led the side to second place in the Spanish second division last season to seal their promotion to the Primera Liga, announced his departure from the club last week to take up the reigns at Racing Santander. The 48-year old Tapia was appointed as the team's manager for the 2005/06 season in what was his first managerial spell, but two points from nine games saw the former Granada coach dismissed. Despite the disappointment of that first spell, club president Fernando Sanz is confident that they have appointed the right man. "We were looking for a hard worker, who knew the club, and who didn't mind working long hours for Malaga," Sanz told the club's official website.
