Zidane backing Les Bleus shine in South Africa

France legend Zinedine Zidane is backing Les Bleus to bounce back from their Euro 2008 disappointment. Zidane was forced to watch his country bow out of this summer's tournament at the group stage and he was surprised they did not progress further. Just two years ago France contested the World Cup final against Italy in Germany, leaving one of the pre-tournament favourites licking their wounds from their Austria and Switzerland adventure.

Learning curve

However, Zidane feels Raymond Domenech's younger players will have learned from the experience and that the former world champions will be back on their game for South Africa in two years' time. "I'm disappointed for France as I did not expect them to be knocked out," he told Sky Sports News. "I know many of the younger players and although they got knocked out of this competition they will be ready for the 2010 World Cup."
