Defender moving on for family reasons
Defender Andy Butler has decided to reject the offer of a new contract at Scunthorpe.
The centre-back has been at Glanford Park for six years and made over 130 appearances for the club, contributing 15 goals.
He was offered a three-year deal at the end of last season but has opted to move on for family reasons.
Butler admits it will be a huge wrench but has thanked the Iron for their support.
He told the club's
oficial website: "I've decided to leave, it's the best move for me and my family now.
"It's gutting (to leave), this is like a second home to me.
"It's hard to describe how you can leave a club, I'm going to miss so many people here - but it's time."
There has been no official word on where Butler will go but local reports suggest he is likely to sign for Huddersfield.
Butler has not revealed how many clubs were interested in him but has conceded it was a difficult summer.
He said: "It's been a right palaver just sorting things out, but hopefully now it's sorted we can move on."
