Derby manager determined to repay fans after woeful campaign

Paul Jewell is desperate to repay Derby County supporters for last term's disappointment as he readies his side for the 2008/09 Championship season. Jewell has failed to claim a single victory since he took The Rams helm last November as the club plummeted to relegation from the Premier League. And as Jewell plans for life in England's second tier, he has insisted he welcomes the expectations that come with managing a side that is expected to bounce back from their previous failings. "The fans won't put up with the stuff they saw last season," he said in the Daily Star. "But they want us to show the fight and desire and pride that was sadly lacking. "I would rather manage a team that is expected to win rather than one getting beaten by five every other week. "I want that kind of challenge. That brings a different expectation. Bring it on."
