Wales hoping for happy return to Moscow

Wales face a repeat trip to Moscow to face Russia in the opening away match of their World Cup qualifying campaign. Russia had delayed naming the venue for the fixture on 10th September due to their run to the semi-finals of Euro 2008. But the Russian Football Union has now confirmed that the tie will be played at the Lokomotiv Stadium with a 7pm (4pm BST) kick-off. Wales had hoped their supporters would be spared a costly trip to the Russian capital in favour of an alternative venue such as St Petersburg. But at least they will have happy memories of their last trip to Moscow where they drew 0-0 under Mark Hughes in 2003 in a European Championship play-off. A 1-0 home defeat then cost them qualification and they will launch another bid for a place in the finals of a major tournament under John Toshack when they host Azerbaijan in Cardiff, five days ahead of their trip to Russia.
