North End insist keeper will not join Ipswich

Preston have told Championship rivals Ipswich that goalkeeper Andy Lonergan will not be leaving Deepdale this summer. North End chairman Derek Shaw confirmed that Ipswich had enquired about Lonergan, but denied he had rejected three bids from the Portman Road club. "Contrary to speculation in the media, we haven't had three bids from Ipswich for Andy Lonergan," Shaw told the club's official website. "I received a phone call from Ipswich Town last week, but we didn't even get to the stage of talking about money - I told them that Andy Lonergan was not for sale. It was a very brief phone call, and it ended at that. "We certainly aren't looking to sell Andy Lonergan - we've had difficulty enough in that department over the past 12 months with Wayne Henderson being out. "There's no way we would be willing to sell him and the matter is closed as far as I'm concerned."
