Agent insists goalkeeper could still move on

Ali Al Habsi's agent insists that the goalkeeper could still leave Bolton if an offer comes in for him before the end of August. The Oman international was quoted as saying he is more than happy to stay with Gary Megson's side this season. However, his representative Peter Harrison has revealed that no talks over a new contract are planned and that Al Habsi would only be staying at the Reebok Stadium because he has 12 months left on his current deal. Harrison also believes that there is plenty of interest from the Premier League and abroad in Al Habsi.

Interest

"He has a year left on his contract, so it is obvious that he will be staying for next season if he is not sold," Harrison told skysports.com. "But there is a lot of interest, Premier League clubs and some very big clubs from abroad - so it is not beyond the realms of fantasy that Ali could leave before the end of August. "But that will be up to Bolton, come January it will be in Ali's hands completely, but as I said there are no plans for new contract talks at the moment."
Target
Harrison admitted that Al Habsi wants to be first choice after finishing last season in fine form for the Trotters. "Ali wants to be a No.1," he said. "He played brilliantly after Jussi Jasskelainen got injured and played a major part in keeping them in the Premier League. "It now remains to be seen what will happen in the new season, but Ali is good enough to be a Premier League No.1 and that's what he wants to be."
