Egypt striker set for JJB Stadium switch

Egypt international Amr Zaki has arrived in Wigan to undergo a medical ahead of his proposed move to the JJB Stadium. The El Zamalek striker has been a long-term target of Latics manager Steve Bruce, with the clubs now having agreed on an initial one-year loan deal. Wigan are expected to pay £1million for Zaki's services next season, with an agreement to shell out a further £5million if he impresses in the Premier League. The prolific forward has scored 27 goals in 48 appearances for his country, but knows he will have his work cut out to make his mark in the Premier League.

Tougher

Zaki told Sky Sports News: "I'm very happy to be here and hope to sign for Wigan. It was difficult for me to come here as my club still wanted me. "I watch all the Premier League and Championship games and think a loan would be good so I can prove myself. "There is a big difference between English and Egyptian football. The competition and the players are tougher here."
