Sunderland baulk at Steaua demands

Sunderland have backed away from their bid to sign Dorin Goian, skysports.com understands. The Black Cats had made a bid for the 27-year-old Romanian international earlier this month - as revealed by skysports.com. Goian was keen to move to England, but Sunderland were unable to strike a deal with the player's club Steaua Bucharest, who were looking for more than £3million. Despite their financial power, Sunderland were unwilling to pay more than their own valuation of the central defender. Black Cats boss Roy Keane is now turning his attention to over targets, whilst Goian remains hopeful he could still get a move to the Premier League. The likes of Newcastle, Manchester City and Bolton have all been linked in recent weeks.
