Barcelona have dismissed reports linking them with a move for Real Madrid star Robinho.

No Barca move for Real winger

Barcelona have dismissed reports linking them with a move for Robinho and the unwritten agreement not to transfer players that exists between the clubs has also resurfaced. Reports that Blaugrana president Joan Laporta was keen to make a move for the Brazilian in order to lift morale at Camp Nou have been quashed by the club following on from the player's agent's denial. Following the sale of Ronaldinho to AC Milan it is believed that Barca are keen to sign a big-name player, but they will not be looking towards the Bernabeu for that star.

Denial

"Every player on the market is of interest to us, but Robinho is not on the market so there is nothing more to say," Barca director Rafael Yuste confirmed to Sport. Amid all the stories, one key factor stood out and is the reason why Robinho could not move to the Catalan giants under the current regime. When Ramon Calderon took over as president at Real Madrid, he and Laporta struck up a friendship that belies the on-field rivalry that still exists between the two clubs. The pair decided that, to avoid any problems between the two clubs, they would make a tacit agreement not to make any approaches for each others players and to deny any stories that do the same. That deal has stuck and scuppers all reports that Barca could make an approach for a Los Merengues player that is not available on the market.
