Francesco Totti has admitted that he would be willing to consider a return to the Italy national team.
The Roma skipper announced his retirement from international football last year, claiming that his body was no longer capable of managing the rigours of playing for both club and country.
However, having been part of the successful 2006 World Cup winning squad under Marcello Lippi, the return of the veteran coach to the national fold has tempted Totti to reconsider his options.
"If I'm well and I don't have problems, it will be possible to address this issue in six months or a year," Totti, who missed the end of last season with a knee injury, told a
Gazzetta dello Sport.
Before his mind turns to an international return Totti is hoping to play an integral role in Roma's bid to snatch the Serie A title away from Internazionale.
He feels that coach Luciano Spalletti needs to make two world class signings this summer for the club to mount a concerted title bid next term, with Milan and Juventus also expected to be among the front-runners for the crown.
Poulsen grudge
One man Totti is not looking forward to coming up against next season, though, is Juve's latest signing, Christian Poulsen.
The 31-year-old still bears a grudge against the Denmark international after he incurred a three-match ban for spitting at the defender during the group stages of Euro 2004.
Totti insists that he was provoked into the reaction and has no intention of forgiving the former Sevilla man, despite a recent attempt by the Dane to make peace.
"It's easy to talk now," said Totti.
"He could have come and told the truth at the hearing the next day. I don't think he adds anything (to Juve) at the technical level."
