Striker finally makes move to Gresty Road

Crewe have completed the signing of Leeds striker Anthony Elding for an undisclosed fee. The 26-year-old only joined Leeds from Stockport in January, but he failed to settle at Elland Road and has finally opted to move on after being omitted from manager Gary McAllister's squad for this week's pre-season mini-tour of Ireland. Elding was quoted in June as saying that he did not want to leave Leeds and that he wanted to fight for his place, but he has now signed a three-year contract with League One rivals Crewe. And Crewe first-team coach Steve Holland is happy to have captured Elding after initially missing out to Leeds. "We are delighted to have finally landed Anthony," Holland told Crewe's official website. "Our interest has been well documented ever since he was made available (by Stockport) in January. We missed out to Leeds but kept an eye on the situation."
