Young midfielder leaves Craven Cottage

Fulham midfielder Nathan Ashton has signed a two-year contract with Wycombe. The 21-year-old struggled to make the breakthrough into the first-team fold at Craven Cottage and has accepted the challenge of launching his career in League Two. He becomes Peter Taylor's seventh signing of the summer and the Chairboys' boss is delighted with his latest capture. "We need to replace Sergio Torres (who has joined Peterborough) and Nathan fits the bill perfectly," Taylor told the club's official website. "He's an attacking minded left-footed player who's got bags of energy and can get up and down the pitch very well." Ashton has signed for a nominal fee that will be dependant on first-team appearances and Taylor believes the former England youth international will benefit from regular football. He added: "He's got a terrific left-foot and needed to play league football. At the age of 21 he needs to be playing regularly."
