Midfielder intends to see out career with Blues

Michael Ballack has insisted that he intends to see out his career at Chelsea. The German midfielder moved to Stamford Bridge from Bayern Munich in 2006 and is pleased with the way things have gone so far. He is now 31 and has just one more year left on his current contract, with the option of 12 further months to follow. It has been reported that Ballack plans to take up that option before calling time on his playing career in the summer of 2010. And Ballack has confirmed that he has no desire to play elsewhere before he eventually hangs up his boots. "I have said in the past that I would be happy to see out my career at Chelsea," he told the Sunday Mirror. "I moved here to play in the best league in the world with one of the strongest teams."

Exceptional

Chelsea narrowly missed out on the Premier League title last season, while they also lost to Manchester United on penalties in the UEFA Champions League final. But Ballack is confident the Blues will bounce back from their disappointment and challenge for trophies again this term. He said: "I expect us to be fighting for silverware this season. We are professionals and we move on from last season. "Chelsea have an exceptional squad which is always capable of winning something."
