Striker not looking to join Bayern this season

Mario Gomez insists he is staying with Stuttgart this season following interest from Bayern Munich. The Germany international has been a long-term target for Bayern, who have been considering a summer bid. Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has recently suggested the German champions would try to sign Gomez in the next 12 months. However, Gomez is not planning to up sticks before the start of the campaign, saying he 'belongs' to Stuttgart. "I have a contract with Stuttgart which runs until 2012 and I never said I wanted to leave the club this summer," Gomez told his personal website. "There has been plenty of speculation in recent weeks and I wanted to make my feelings clear: I belong to this team. "Of course, the interest expressed by one of the biggest clubs in Europe is a huge honour for me."
