Chief executive quits Goodison Park
Everton have announced that chief executive Keith Wyness has resigned.
The departure of Wyness, who has been the driving force behind the club's plans for a new stadium, has come as a surprise to the Merseyside outfit.
Everton issued a short one-sentence statement to confirm the shock exit of Wyness on their
official website.
It read: "Everton football club wishes to announce that Keith Wyness has resigned his position as chief executive officer and director of the club."
Reports are suggesting that Wyness could be set for a similar role at Primera Liga club Real Mallorca.
Destination Kirby
However, Everton insist the departure of Wyness is not linked to the future of their plans to relocate to a new 50,000-capacity stadium in Kirby.
Planning consent has been received, but a government decision on whether or not to 'call in' the project is expected this week.
The Toffees have issued a statement re-iterating their commitment to the move.
An Everton spokesman said: "The club wish to re-iterate our commitment to the Destination Kirkby project.
"The departure of Keith Wyness is in no way connected to that project."
