Real defended 'tired' of transfer saga

Real Madrid defender Pepe admits he is growing increasingly frustrated by the ongoing Cristiano Ronaldo transfer saga. The Spanish champions have conducted a summer-long pursuit of Ronaldo as they attempt to prise the Portugal international away from Manchester United. However, despite cyclical speculation, a move has yet to materialise - much to the frustration of Real president Ramon Calderon. Bernabeu boss Bernd Schuster has sounded his concerns over his club's 'obsession' with Ronaldo and Pepe - an international colleague of the United star - has echoed the sentiments of his manager.

Respect

"There is a bit of a lack of respect because a team is not made of one player - however good he is," said Pepe. "Pele and Maradona won games but they had the help of their team-mates. "We are a bit tired with this issue but we know that if Cristiano comes he will help us and we will help him to adapt into the dressing room." Real have been linked with moves for Valencia and Spain striker David Villa or Hamburg playmaker Rafael van der Vaart, if they miss out on Ronaldo.
