Rovers chairman John Williams confirmed earlier this week Paul Ince had made a defensieve midfielder his top priority and Grella is believed to be their main target.
The Ewood Park revealed their interest in Grella's fellow Australian Mark Bresciano earlier this week and now they could be ready to reunite the international team-mates in the Premier League.
Torino are thought to be willing to sell Grella if they receive the right offer for the midfielder and Blackburn are now ready to make a move.
Fulham are also thought to be tracking Grella, but Blackburn are hoping to steal a march on their rivals by making a firm offer for the 28-year-old.
