Van Nieuwstadt joins Doncaster on two-year deal
Doncaster have clinched the signing of defender Jos van Nieuwstadt on a two-year deal.
The 29-year-old Dutchman has spent the last two seasons with Excelsior Rotterdam in his homeland.
However, he took the opportunity to link up with Doncaster on trial following Excelsior's relegation from the Eredivisie at the end of last season.
Van Nieuwstadt impressed manager Sean O'Driscoll in the recent pre-season friendlies against Newcastle and Port Vale, and has now put pen-to-paper on a contract at the Keepmoat Stadium.
He believes his style should suit Doncaster and is looking forward to the forthcoming Championship campaign.
"I'm very delighted to sign," Van Nieuwstadt told the club's
official website.
"I came here last week and the first impression I got was very good. I played a game here and the atmosphere was brilliant, so I was delighted to sign.
"I'm not a kick-and-rush kind of guy. I like to play clean football, so I think I have come to the right place.
"The lads here are good, nice guys who have confidence in the fact that we are going to have a good season."
