United star working hard on his rehabilitation
Cristiano Ronaldo is working up to six hours a day in a bid to return to action within two months.
While the summer's most protracted transfer saga looks to have been sated by Manchester United's refusal to sell to Real Madrid, the Portuguese star's ankle remains an ongoing concern.
Ronaldo went under the surgeon's knife at the close of the European Championship and is now working overtime to make an ahead of scheduled return.
Antonio Gaspar is the physio charged with overseeing the rehabilitation of one of football's most prized ankles, and he is confident the player is making excellent progress.
"Cristiano works for five to six hours a day and we haven't had that many days off," said Gaspar.
"The trip to LA was fantastic. We were able to work far from the pressure.
"He will be fit again by the end of September or in the first days of October."
