Winger looks for new challenge
Skysports.com understands Ben Muirhead has left Rochdale after cancelling his contract at the club.
The former Manchester United youngster has decided to seek pastures new after becoming unsettled at Spotland.
Muirhead has held talks with Rochdale and both parties have decided to part ways by mutual consent.
The 25-year-old is now hoping to find himself a new club before the start of the season and has set his sights on playing higher up the football pyramid.
"I have cancelled my contract at Rochdale after holding talks with the club over my future," Muirhead told
skysports.com.
Unsettled
"I felt I had no choice but to leave after becoming unsettled at the club for various reasons.
"I have enjoyed my time at Rochdale, including the winning goal in the play-off semi-final and I wish all the players and fans all the best, but I believe I was stagnating at the club.
"I am now hoping to find myself a new club before the start of the season and try and get back to playing in the Championship like I was at Bradford.
"I believe there is some interest in me and I am determined to push myself on.
Murihead's agent Jesse Learoyd-Hill has confirmed that the tricky winger is attracting interest from a number of clubs.
"Ben has opted to leave Rochdale as he seeks a new challenge in his career," Learoyd-Hill told
skysports.com.
"There has been interest in him and I am hopeful in the next few weeks we can get something sorted out for Ben."
