Norwich have rewarded trialist Stuart Nelson with a one-year contract at Carrow Road.
The keeper recently featured in the Canaries' pre-season tour to Sweden, as well as friendlies against Gorleston, Dereham and King's Lynn.
Glenn Roeder admitted that the 26-year-old thoroughly deserved his deal after a number of eye-catching displays in those fixtures.
"He's impressed us with his attitude and his work ethic," the Norwich boss told the
Evening News.
"We feel he's actually improved this pre-season as a goalkeeper.
"Tommy Wright (keeping coach) is doing a great job at the moment."
Released
Nelson began his career at Doncaster before slipping out of the Football League to join Hucknall Town in 2003.
He moved on to Brentford in February 2004 and helped the Bees reach the League One play-offs during his first season at the club.
He was installed as club captain at Griffin Park ahead of the 2006/07 campaign, but saw his season blighted by injuries.
Having fallen out of favour as a result he joined Leyton Orient last summer and was a regular fixture for the O's.
Nelson secured his release from Brisbane Road in May, citing relocating issues, and will be delighted to have found a new club ahead of the new season.
