Hartlepool v Scunthorpe preview

Hartlepool will again be without Ben Clark against Scunthorpe, who are sweating on Paul Hayes.

Concerns for League One rivals

Hartlepool United will again be without Ben Clark for the tie with Scunthorpe United, who are sweating on Paul Hayes. Clark hurt his ankle in training last week and is likely to be out for a month after also missing the opening day win over Colchester United. Pools boss Danny Wilson could make changes, with Richie Barker, Alan Power, Matty Robson, Jamie McCunnie and David Foley, who were all on the bench at the weekend, pushing to start. Foley has fond memories of last season's first round when he scored both goals as 10-man Pools claimed a 2-1 victory against the Iron at Glanford Park.

Scunthorpe news

Scunthorpe, who lost 2-1 at home to Leeds United on their return to League One on Saturday, are waiting on Hayes. The striker took a knock to his ankle against Leeds and faces a late fitness test, with either Jonathan Forte or Ben May likely to come in. New signing Martyn Woolford is also a doubt with a cut cheek sustained in training last week while the midfielder was still with Blue Square Premier side York. Goalkeeper Joe Murphy is still out (groin), while defenders Andy Crosby and Joe Wilcox (knee) have not fully recovered from long-term injuries.
