Spaniard amazed by reception
Celtic new boy Marc Crosas is hoping to repay the club's fans following the reception he received before Sunday's SPL opener against St Mirren.
The 20-year-old midfielder, signed from Barcelona on a four-year deal for an initial fee of £400,000, was introduced to the Parkhead faithful ahead of the 1-0 win over the Saints.
Almost 60,000 fans gave him a rousing cheer and speaking at the club's training ground at Lennoxtown, Crosas, who rejected interest from Sevilla and several Italian clubs, revealed the impression it had made on him
"I am very happy to be here and I want to say thank you to the fans for the welcome before the match on Sunday," said Crosas.
"The fact that there was 60,000 there and cheering for me was amazing.
"The fans showed me that they are proud and always cheer for their team.
"Every player has to give their best and that's what I'm here for, to give my best.
"You cannot compare teams in Spain with teams in Scotland but I believe that Celtic are one of the best.
"I know that Celtic have won the league three years in a row, they are always in the Champions League and they always go through to the group stages.
"So I want to spend four years here and do my best for the team."
Crosas intends to push on with his career after failing to make the grade at the Camp Nou.
Opportunity
He said: "I have spent all my career at Barca but unfortunately I didn't have the opportunity to play in the first team.
"Celtic have given me that opportunity so I'm really grateful for that.
"Every player is different but I am an organised, offensive player.
"I want to add to the team and show all my qualities but it's up to the manager to decide who gets an opportunity in the first team."
