Serie A side Fiorentina are well placed to qualify for the group stages of the UEFA Champions League after they claimed a 2-0 win over Slavia Prague on Tuesday.
Adrian Mutu and Alberto Gilardino were on target for Cesare Prandelli's side at Stadio Artemio Franchi as they secured a first leg success in the third qualifying round.
Former Chelsea striker Mutu broke the deadlock after just three minutes, before Gilardino sealed the triumph in the 57th minute.
Karel Jarolim's men now face a stern test if they are to turn the tie around next Wednesday at Stadion Eden.
