Midfielder may go on loan to aid fitness push
Veteran Gillingham midfielder Nicky Southall has been made available for loan in a bid to get match-fit.
The 36-year-old has struggled with a groin injury throughout pre-season and manager Mark Stimson is keen for him to get some first-team action under his belt.
The Gills boss told the club's
official website: "I've spoken to Nicky and we agreed that it's in the interest of both parties.
"He needs to get match-fit because injuries have restricted his participation in pre-season.
"Unfortunately we only have one reserve game this month and Nicky needs to get some games in, so a loan spell is the best option."
Southall played 63 minutes in Gillingham's Carling Cup first round defeat to Colchester on Tuesday night after missing the team's opening League Two match at Bournemouth at the weekend.
