Yeovil Town have taken Crewe Alexandra midfielder Gary Roberts on trial as Russell Slade looks for cover.
Roberts is expected to leave Crewe before the close of the transfer window after falling out with the management team.
He has been linked with several Championship clubs, but is now heading to Huish Park to train with Yeovil.
Crewe have confirmed Roberts is joining up with their League One rivals and could play in a behind-closed-doors game later this week.
Glovers boss Slade admits he needs additions to his midfield after Darren Way joined Marc Bircham on the injury list after Saturday's win over Hereford.
"The win was thoroughly well merited, but the real shame is losing Darren Way," said Slade.
"I'm now without two key midfielders and we have got Leeds United next."
