Midfielder aiming to secure contract at Blundell Park
Grimsby Town have given former Barnet midfielder Nicky Nicolau the chance to earn a contract.
Nicolau left Barnet over the summer and has spent the last week training with League Two rivals Grimsby.
He is due to play in a friendly against Winterton Rangers on Tuesday night and Mariners boss Alan Buckley wants to assess Nicolau in a game.
"Nicky has looked good in training on the ball and he's worked hard," Buckley told the
Grimsby Telegraph.
"But it's always better to judge a player once you've seen him in action in a game and that was one of the reasons we wanted to get a friendly match arranged."
Joining Nicolau on trial at Blundell Park at present is defender Frank Belt, who had a stint at Hull City last season.
