Serbian Football Association make change at helm
Miroslav Djukic has been sacked as manager of Serbia, with Radomir Antic replacing him at the helm.
Djukic took over the role in January after Serbia were unsuccessful in qualifying for Euro 2008, but failed to win any of his eight matches in charge.
And following Serbia's exit from the Beijing Olympics at the group stages, Djukic's contract has been cancelled.
"Miroslav Djukic's contract has been terminated as of today and we have appointed Radomir Antic as the national team coach for a two-year period," Serbian Football Association (FSS) president Tomislav Karadzic told a news conference.
"Antic's contract will be renewed automatically if we qualify for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and we are very optimistic about our chances. Results are the only barometer and we were not happy with Djukic's results."
Former Barcelona and Real Madrid coach Antic will now manage the side ahead of their 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign, which begins at home to Faroe Islands on 6th September.
