Midfielder admits squad needs strengthening

Leon Osman insists Everton's lack of activity in the transfer market will not affect their performances on the pitch. Everton have been surprisingly quiet in the transfer market as yet with no new signings arriving at Goodison Park this summer. Toffees boss David Moyes has been calling for reinforcements as he looks to bolster his squad, but he has so far been frustrated on the transfer front. Osman admits new signings are required if Everton are to improve, but says the players will not be affected by the speculation.

Job to do

"We cannot let it affect us," Osman told Sky Sports News. "We have got a job to do on the pitch no matter who is brought in, or who is not brought in. "We have to go about our jobs correctly during the week and get the result on the Saturday." "It [transfer speculation] has been hanging over the club but we try and distance ourselves from it. "If you are looking at the development of the club and thinking of winning things you have got to bring in new players and improve year on year for it to work."
