Ashworth joins on month-long loan deal

Leyton Orient have announced the signing of teenager Luke Ashworth on a month-long loan deal from Wigan Athletic. O's boss Martin Ling has moved for the 18-year-old defender in a bid to ease the absence of Tamika Mkandawire, who is sidelined for two weeks with an ankle injury. Ling said on the club's official website: "We've been looking to bring in a centre-half due to the precarious fitness situation we have there, so I'm pleased to welcome Luke to the club. "We've watched him play a lot of reserve team football for Wigan and he is highly thought of there. "He is the reserve team captain at Wigan and he will provide excellent cover for us. "I'm thankful for Steve Bruce for allowing Luke to come on loan to us - Steve helped us out last year too with Sam Oji."
