Bolton boss Gary Megson has urged Fabrice Muamba to develop a killer instinct in front of goal.
The 20-year-old joined Bolton from Birmingham over the summer and has turned in impressive performances against Stoke and Newcastle already.
Megson has been impressed but believes the midfielder still has room to improve and should look to add goals to his game.
"Fabrice has had a terrific impact. He is a good player and I think he can get better and better," said Megson.
"But what he has got to do is what he didn't do for us on Saturday - and we have spoken about it already - he has got to add goals to his game and he has got to add a little bit of forward momentum to his game.
"He is exceptional at what he has been bought for, but if he wants to get better, he has got to add to that, and I am sure he will do.
"He is a great lad and he is going to be a top, top player."
Cup hope
Muamba is set to feature in the Carling Cup clash against Northampton on Tuesday and Megson has set his sights on success in the competition.
He said: "It is a big priority. We have played two league games and we have taken three points.
"We have got a massive game at home against West Brom on the Saturday after, and then Fulham the Saturday after that away from home.
"But the priority now becomes beating Northampton at home. We want to do as well as we possibly can in that cup.
"I want to pick the strongest team I can to get through in that competition."
