Everton believed to be monitoring veteran striker

Helsingborgs have admitted Henrik Larsson will be sold if the club receive a suitable offer. The veteran striker has scored eight goals in 20 appearances for the Swedish outfit this season, but that has not been enough to push them into the title race. As such, Helsingborg are prepared to part with the 36-year-old while they can still demand a fee, with Everton reported to be considering a bid. Larsson's contract is due to expire at the end of the season, making him eligible to begin discussions regarding a Bosman move from December.

Decision

The former Celtic and Manchester United man concedes that he could be on the move before the transfer window closes, and has not ruled out a return to Britain. "Whether the club wants to sell me is up to them," Larsson told the Daily Record. "Should that be the case, I will make a decision. "There are only two options for me - whether I accept or not."
Cost-cutting
Helsingborgs are keen to trim their wage bill in the wake of their failure to push for honours, with club spokesman Sten-Inge Fredin admitting Larsson could be one of the first to be sacrificed. "One should never say never in this world," he said. "If there is an enquiry or a bid we will look at it - it does not matter that it is Henrik Larsson. "There is a combination of many things behind this decision. "It is for us to make cost savings in the second half of the season."
