Crystal Palace have completed the signing of striker Alan Lee from Championship rivals Ipswich. The 30-year-old Republic of Ireland international has signed a three-year deal at Selhurst Park for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £600,000. Lee joined Town in January 2006 after failing to settle at Cardiff and was an immediate hit at Portman Road scoring 31 goals in 103 league games for the club.

The striker featured in most of Town's campaign last season but manager Jim Magilton believes the time is right for him to move on. "Alan has been a fantastic servant for this football club but the time is right to go our separate ways," Magilton told the club's official website. "We wish him every success for the future." Lee has joined Palace in time to be included in the squad to face Reading on Saturday.
