A groin injury has forced striker Garry O'Connor out of Scotland's opening World Cup qualifiers.

Striker misses Macedonia and Iceland clashes

Injury has forced striker Garry O'Connor to withdraw from Scotland's squad for their opening World Cup qualifiers against Macedonia and Iceland. The Birmingham hotshot is having treatment for a groin problem and was an unused substitute in Blues' 1-1 draw with Norwich at the weekend. O'Connor had previously been in fine from for the Blues which had earned him a recall to the Scotland squad under new boss George Burley. Fellow Birmingham forward James McFadden remains in the national squad to play Macedonia away on Saturday before travelling on to Iceland for the clash there next Wednesday.
