Derby date in first round of the cup

Elland Road plays host to a Yorkshire derby as Leeds and Bradford meet in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. The first round fixture pitches the League One Whites, who have made a slow start to the new season, against a Bantams outfit which got off to a flier in the bottom tier. Leeds boss Gary McAllister should have defender Alan Sheehan available once again for the cup clash. Sheehan has missed the last two games after suffering concussion in the draw with Yeovil, but is expected to return to the squad to face Stuart McCall's side. Veteran midfielder Paul Telfer was absent from the 2-2 draw with Bristol Rovers on Saturday after picking up a knock and it is likely he will return to the squad. McAllister has a selection dilemma in goal as he decides whether to keep faith with David Lucas or restore regular No.1 Casper Ankergren to the side. Lucas kept his place in the side on Saturday after keeping a clean sheet in the Carling Cup win over Crystal Palace, but McAllister may opt for Ankergren again.

Clarke out

Bradford boss Stuart McCall will be without defender Matthew Clarke for the trip to their local rivals. Clarke limped out of Saturday's 3-2 defeat to Aldershot after sustaining a calf injury that could see him out of action for up to a month. Mark Bower replaced Clarke at the weekend and it is likely that he will keep his place in the side for the game at Elland Road. Fellow defender Graeme Lee played the second half against Shots with stitches in a head wound, but he should be fit enough to play. Midfield duo Chris Brandon and Willy Topp are set to remain on the sidelines once again with ankle and hamstring injuries respectively.
