Goalkeeper ruled out for three weeks

Schalke goalkeeper Mathias Schober will be sidelined for around three weeks with a calf injury. The experienced shot-stopper picked up the injury in training leaving the Royal Blues with a serious goalkeeping problem ahead of Saturday's top-of-the-table clash with bitter local rivals Borussia Dortmund. Schober, who took over between the posts after regular first-choice keeper Manuel Neuer broke a bone in his foot in a pre-season friendly, looks likely to be replaced by 20-year-old rookie Ralf Fahrmann in Dortmund. But there is still an outside chance that Neuer could yet make a shock return to the side. "It is completely up in the air as to whether I'll be fit for Saturday," he told Bild. "I haven't even trained with the team as of yet and we have to wait for some training tests later this week." Schalke currently top the early Bundesliga table on goal difference with seven points from three matches.
