Rovers boss confident forward will continue to score

Blackburn boss Paul Ince believes new striker Robbie Fowler still has plenty of goals left in him. Fowler signed a short-term deal with the club on Friday after agreeing terms at Ewood Park on Thursday. The 33-year-old has been given a three-month performance related contract with Ince's side and goes straight into the squad for Saturday's fixture against Arsenal. Fowler is a proven goalscorer, hitting 120 during his eight-year spell with Liverpool and Ince is happy with his new signing, insisting his age is of no concern.

Late

"I wouldn't say because he's in his early 30s that it's late in his career. You look at Teddy Sheringham, he played until he was 41 and Dwight Yorke's still playing at Sunderland," Ince told Sky Sports News. "You know Robbie's never been the best for pace and I'm sure he won't mind me saying that, but he's a fantastic goalscorer and you never lose that habit of putting the ball in the back of the net and he's been out for a while but he's looking sharp in training. "We had to make sure it was right for me and for the club and right for himself, and he's at that stage now where we want to give him a contract and see how he fits in."
