Tottenham new boy tipped to shine
Gareth Bale has tipped new boy Roman Pavlyuchenko to make a major impact at Tottenham.
Bale lined up against the striker as Wales lost 2-1 to Russia in a keenly-contested World Cup qualifier on Wednesday.
Pavlyuchenko scored from the penalty spot and Bale was impressed by the all-round performance of his new club-mate.
Spurs paid £14million to Spartak Moscow to secure Pavlyuchenko's services and Bale is convinced that he will take the Premier League by storm.
"He was up front on his own and played well," said the left-back.
"He held the ball up well, looked lively and obviously scored the penalty against us in the first half.
"Tottenham fans certainly have something to look forward to.
"I spoke to him before and after and he's looking forward to playing for Spurs."
Dawson hope
Tottenham go in search of their first win of the season against Aston Villa on Monday after a disappointing start to the campaign.
However, defender Michael Dawson is confident that Spurs can build on the morale-boosting 1-1 draw against Chelsea last time out.
"Chelsea was a good performance, we knew what we needed to do and showed character after going 1-0 down," Dawson told the club's
official website.
"When you consider what happened in the first two games it would have been easy for the heads to go down when we went behind but we kept fighting and it paid off.
"We all know that the first two games were very disappointing and following Chelsea, we now need to win because we don't want to let teams get too far away from us. It's such a tough league to play catch up.
"They [Villa] are a good team and they've built a good squad but we need the three points."
