Midfielder commits to O'Neill's side until 2012
Aston Villa midfielder Craig Gardner has signed a new four-year contract with the club.
Gardner has followed the example of several of his team-mates by agreeing an extension as Martin O'Neill looks to keep his squad together.
John Carew, Gabriel Agbonlahor and Wilfred Bouma have all signed new deals recently, and O'Neill also wants Ashley Young to accept a contract extension.
England Under 21 international Gardner has come through the ranks at Villa Park and has made 52 first-team appearances, scoring six goals.
He has yet to establish himself as a regular starter in O'Neill's side, but is now tied to the club until 2012.
