David Moyes will seek an apology from Alan Wiley after being sent off in Everton's win at Stoke.
Toffees boss feels his team should have had a penalty
David Moyes is set to seek an apology from referee Alan Wiley after being sent from the dugout in Everton's 3-2 win at Stoke City.
The Toffees boss was banished to the stands after complaining to the fourth official when his team were not awarded a penalty after 73 minutes.
Stoke defender Leon Cort appeared to handle the ball in the area, with Wiley initially awarding the visitors a spot-kick.
However, after consultation with his assistant, Wiley gave Everton a free-kick, much to Moyes' disappointment.
Period of respect
"The referee pointed to the spot and from where I was standing he (Cort) was two yards inside the box," Moyes told
Sky Sports 1.
"I've not had a chance to see it yet, so if I'm wrong I'll go and apologise to him (Wiley).
"I would probably expect the same from him because we're in a period of respect, so if I'm wrong I'll certainly go and say sorry to him, there's no problem about that, but at the time I really thought it was inside."
Tim Cahill marked his first appearance of the season by heading the winning goal and Moyes was delighted to see the Australian back on the pitch.
He added: "He scores important goals for us and he has won us the game today."
Stoke had fought back from two goals down to level following a pair of Rory Delap long throw-ins and Moyes was always expecting a stiff test against the Premier League new boys.
Moyes said: "It was really tough and just what you expect from Stoke. It was a good afternoon to get three points."
