Coleman to look elsewhere for new right-back

Chris Coleman admits Coventry City's bid to sign Ulises de la Cruz on a short-term deal has collapsed. De la Cruz trained with Coventry last week and Coleman was hoping to add the Ecuador international to his squad before the 0-0 draw with Preston North End. However, an agreement could not be reached with the full-back, leaving Sky Blues boss Coleman to look elsewhere for cover during Stephen Wright's injury-enforced absence. "That's finished now and unfortunately I can't see that being resurrected," Coleman told the Coventry Evening Telegraph regarding the De la Cruz deal.

Move on

"I said the other day that it is never done until the player has his kit on and is on the pitch because there is always something that can happen. "But we move on and get on with it. We are going to miss Stephen Wright for the next four to six weeks, but if Isaac (Osbourne) can give us that then I am happy with that because it saves us signing another player. "But Isaac is still very young in a young back four and so we probably will still look for a loan signing because it is not fair for him to play eight games at right-back when it is not his strongest position. "And if we are looking to improve on last year then we have to look at a loan signing."
