Port Vale boss Lee Sinnott knows the fresh faces he has brought to the club will need time to gel.
Vale boss accepts fresh faces are still settling in
Port Vale manager Lee Sinnott has been pleased with his side's start to the season, but accepts his players are yet to gel after bringing a large number of fresh faces to Vale Park over the summer.
The Valiants have brought in nine new recruits since the end of the 2007/08 campaign and Sinnott told
skysports.com that they need time to settle.
"When you assemble a new group of players and especially a young bunch like we have here, which isn't an excuse just an observation, things take a little time to bed in.
"Looking back at the games on DVD I can tell that there's a fine dividing line at the moment and we'd like to put more points on the board.
"There are only six games gone and another 40 to go, but people can change opinions in football very quickly."
Evaluation
Sinnott refused to rule out further additions to his squad, but indicated that finances will dictate if and when they are brought in.
"There could be, but we'll have to wait and see really," he added.
"There's no big pot of money to bring players in, so we'll have to see how things develop financially at the football club.
"We've got a starting squad here at the moment, which you have to have in place for the start of the season. We'll evaluate it week by week in terms of what we are doing and bringing in additions.
"It depends on things financially as well, as if you don't have the funds to do so then you can't, so we are happy with what we've got at the moment."
Disruptive
Former Wolves midfielder Kevin O'Connor has been training with the club of late, but Sinnott feels he needs more time to assess the merits of the former Republic of Ireland Under 21 international.
"Kevin has been training with us and he's had a disruptive football history over the last few years," he said.
"It's just a case of having a look at him and there's no obligation on either side. We'll see how it goes, but there's nothing concrete so far."
