No leg break for young Brazilian

Manchester United have revealed that Rodrigo Possebon has not broken his leg as was first feared. Possebon was carried off with a suspected broken leg following a horror tackle by Middlesbrough defender Emanuel Pogatetz during United's 3-1 win in the Carling Cup tie at Old Trafford. Pogatetz was shown a straight red card for the foul as he caught the youngster with the dangerous tackle. The young Brazilian required oxygen on the pitch as he received six minutes of treatment before being stretchered off. Pogatetz's tackle infuriated United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, who feared the 19-year-old had suffered a suspected broken leg. However, after scans, the club have confirmed that Possebon has not sustained a broken leg and that he will undergo more scans to ascertain the full extent of the injury "We can confirm that Rodrigo did not suffer a break to his right leg," read a statement on the club's official website. "He was kept in hospital overnight for observation and to assess whether there was any ligament damage to his knee." At the moment, however, everyone at the club is just pleased to hear that Possebon has not broken his leg.
