No approach from Tottenham for young striker
Southampton have played down reports suggesting Tottenham have made an approach for Adam Lallana.
The Premier League outfit were rumoured to have enquired about the 20-year-old and made aware that they would need to pay £5million should they want the youngster in January.
The forward was also the subject of a bid from Fulham prior to the closure of the summer transfer window, but the Cottagers were quickly knocked back.
The Saints are keen to do all they can to retain the services of their precocious talent and recently handed him a new three-year contract.
Flattering
For that reason they have no intention to listening to any offers, should any materialise.
"There has been no official approach from Tottenham Hotspur for Adam Lallana," a club spokesman told the
Southern Daily Echo.
"Adam is one of a number of technically gifted players who have come through the club's Academy and it is obviously flattering to see them held in such high regard within the game.
"Adam has always had the ability to perform, and having recently signed a new three-year contract he now has the chance to do so."
