Watford boss in hot water over Attwell outburst
Adrian Boothroyd has been charged by the Football Association with using abusive and/or insulting words towards referee Stuart Attwell during Watford's match against Reading.
Controversy erupted when Attwell awarded Reading their opening goal in the 2-2 draw at Vicarage Road.
Noel Hunt and John Eustace contested Stephen Hunt's corner which resulted in the ball bouncing four yards wide of the goal, but linesman Nigel Bannister flagged for an own goal by Eustace.
Enraged by that incident, Boothroyd was later sent to the stands for contesting another of Attwell's decisions and now faces disciplinary hearing and a possible touchline ban.
Boothroyd has until 10th October to respond to the charge.
The match ended in a 2-2 draw, but despite Royals boss Steve Coppell's admission he would replay the match if asked to, the Football League rejected the possibility.
