Right-back eager to return for World Cup qualifying campaign

Alan Hutton is 'desperate' to return for Scotland's forthcoming World Cup qualifier but admits he is unsure if he will be fit in time for the encounter. The Tottenham Hotspur full-back is currently recovering from the stress fracture in his right foot he suffered in pre-season. George Burley's Scotland got their World Cup qualifying campaign off to a poor start with a loss to Macedonia, but they bounced back to defeat Iceland. The Scots next face Norway at Hampden Park on 11th October, and Hutton has conceded he is uncertain if he will be at Burley's disposal.

He told the Daily Record: "It is a huge campaign for Scotland and something I really want to be part of. "That is part of the reason I am desperate to try and get back and get involved. "I haven't spoken to George Burley since I picked up this injury but I've been in contact with SFA official Richard Simpson over my fitness. "I am back working with a ball and I am virtually in full training but I can't say how long it will take."
