Forest still looking for first point on their travels
Rory Fallon's strike was enough to give Plymouth a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest at Home Park.
The win was Plymouth's first success at home, while Forest are still searching for their point on their travels so far this season.
Fallon scored the only goal of the game five minutes before the break to give Paul Sturrock's men the three points.
The Pilgrims had enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges with two chances going the way of Paul Gallagher inside the first five minutes.
The striker, on loan from Blackburn, hit a tame effort wide of the left post before firing a volley over the bar soon afterwards.
Chris Clark then had a drilled right-footed shot from 20 yards blocked by team-mate Fallon as Plymouth continued to push forward.
Minutes later Forest, who were without star striker Robert Earnshaw, created their first chances, but Guy Moussi and Luke Chambers wasted their opportunities with weak headers.
Neither side seemed to have the cutting edge up front as more chances were wasted. Gallagher fired a shot straight at Forest goalkeeper Paul Smith, Craig Cathcart headed off target, and Fallon shot wide of the left post.
Winner
But that all changed when Fallon sent a left-footed effort past Smith from 18 yards.
It could have been all square before the interval, but Chambers sent a weak header over the bar.
Colin Calderwood's men refused to give up hope in the second half, and the Forest coach made his attacking intentions clear with the introduction of striker Garath McCleary in place of defender James Perch at half-time.
This seemed to give Forest more fire-power up front, and veteran striker Andy Cole almost levelled the score within two minutes of the restart only to be denied by a fantastic save from Romain Larrieu.
Cole burst into action again eight minutes later, but fired his shot wide shortly after Plymouth had lost Cathcart to injury.
Woodwork
Larrieu then came to the rescue to deny Chris Cohen, before Plymouth's Jamie Mackie hit the woodwork.
Forest's day looked to be going from bad to worse when they lost Arron Davies to injury after 66 minutes, before Smith saved their blushes with an excellent stop to deny Marcel Seip.
Forest could have snatched a draw late on, but Larrieu produced another excellent save to tip Cohen's left-footed shot round a post, before Cole's overhead kick was blocked by Seip.
But it ended sourly for the visitors as Wes Morgan was dismissed in stoppage time for a second bookable offence.
